Student scholarships - Recruiting and retaining the very best students continues to be a top priority for the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC). CEC aims to match its dramatic enrollment growth with a 45 percent increase in scholarships available to its students. This enables the College to compete for the nation’s top talent and can be achieved by supporting one of CEC’s existing scholarship funds or creating one of your own. If you are interested in learning more about how to establish a scholarship contact Jay Fridy.
Endowed Professorships - A great way to honor a favorite professor who made a difference in your life is to endow a specific program or department professorship. If you are interested in learning how you or your company could endow a professorship contact Jay Fridy.
Leadership Institute - The CEC Leadership Institute will provides an environment where aspiring engineers and computer scientists can learn and exercise the leadership competencies that will be essential to their professional and personal lives. In addition, the Leadership Institute has established a national reputation for CEC and Miami as a university where leadership is an integral part of the educational experience.
Center for Assistive Technologies. The center is a collaborative effort between on-campus departments and faculty, external partners, and top Miami undergraduate and graduate students that focuses on engineering solutions for older adults and people with disabilities to increase their quality of life. Gifts to the center support research, student and faculty needs.
International study and global learning - Students must have global study and internship opportunities in order to excel within their chosen professions. Our faculty is committed to creating meaningful study abroad opportunities for CEC students. Recent or ongoing programs are in Poland, South Korea, India, Puerto Rico and Austria. Global travel is a prohibitive financial burden for many students. Your gift designated to support international learning will open the world to these students. Linda Cornfield ’82 (systems analysis) made a major financial commitment to this program ($20,000 per year) and invites all other CEC alumni to join her in supporting this effort at whatever levels you can.
Facility Naming Rights - There are still many naming opportunities remaining in our buildings. If you would like more information how you or your company could take advantage of this opportunity please contact Jay Fridy.
