The First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC) teaches first-year business students key, critical business skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creative thinking, computational thinking and coding, and ethical thinking. Throughout a highly interactive semester, students then apply these learned skills to an experiential learning project where they work with a corporate client to develop innovative solutions for complex business problems, using real data.

This year, the FYIC formed a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee to identify key strategies and action items to create a more inclusive FYIC community and promote a sense of belonging to all of our first year business students. We have identified four high level goals to move the needle on DEIB in the FYIC: Students, Faculty, Curriculum, and Programmatic. Funding for this project will go to enhancing our DEIB strategies in the FYIC to ensure that all students are beyond ready for success upon graduation.
