5,346 gifts help us surpass our fundraising goal on move-in day

One act may seem small. Its impact is immeasurable.

Once again, the generosity of Miami alumni and friends exceeded expectations during #MoveInMiami.

The university’s annual day of giving outpaced its initial goal of 2,026 gifts in 20 hours and 26 minutes by finishing with a record-high 5,346 gifts totaling $3,704,889.

“The generosity of our alumni, family and friends continues to amaze me,” said Brad Bundy, vice president for University Advancement. “The commitment and support for our students displayed during #MoveInMiami is truly inspirational.”

The social media-driven event engaged Miamians across a host of channels and included challenges throughout the day. Donors made an impact on more than 200 areas across Miami’s campuses, including athletics, diversity efforts, mental health initiatives, Greek life and much more.

Other highlights from #MoveInMiami 2022 include:

  • Alumni donors ranged from the Class of 1952 to the Class of 2022.
  • The Class of 1975 recorded the most gifts and unlocked a $15,000 gift by having more than 100 donors. The Class of 1992 finished second, followed by the Classes of 1990, 1991 and 1979.
  • Emerson Hall was the top residence hall in the alumni/donor giving competition for the second year in a row, and for the fifth time in #MoveInMiami history. Morris Hall finished second in the competition, followed by Tappan Hall, Symmes/Reid Hall and Dorsey Hall.
  • Donations came from all 50 states and three countries.

These small acts made a big impact for Miami University and its students.
